SFSC will always remember Zion Williams-Gaines, an EduSkate After School Program alum and a highly dedicated skateboarder who became an innovator in the field of skateboarding when an incomprehensible act of violence took his sight.

"I remember him being wise beyond his years. He'd always self advocate and show up and navigate the city by himself. He was super ambitious about being sponsored and about being in the skateboard industry...[Zion] was so connected to the community and he had strong family ties — he would be really proud of his family members and the community at large for what they were able to accomplish: naming a skate park in a city that doesn't like to name locations after people," said SFSC co-founder Shawn Connolly in an interview with long-running Canadian news show "As It Happens." Listen to the full interview here (Scroll down to July 9th episode and fast forward to the 16:00 minute mark for Shawn's full interview!)
