Another school year in the books at EduSkate After School Program and another year of dedicated, talented, inspiring students to celebrate.
We hosted a backyard BBQ and graduation ceremony for students in our program who are graduating college, graduating high school, or completing their 5th or 8th grade years. We're honored to be part of their lives and academic journeys, and we are proud of the ways they are contributing to the SF Skate Club community and beyond.
We've had an outstanding Spring 2026 semester and are enjoying reflecting on some of our memories:
Joining the MLK March in downtown San Francisco
Having a curator-led tour from Ted Barrow of the Epicenter exhibition
Celebrating Lunar New Year together with a family-style meal and traditional red envelopes
Hosting a Black History Month art show in our space
Visiting Mercy Terrace Senior Center to deliver handmade valentines and spend time with our neighborhood elders
Co-hosting a skate jam in honor of Pablo Ramirez
Learning every step of how to screen print at the Haight Street Art Center while working on our own clothing, prints, and zines
Teaming up with Banán for an ice cream fundraiser at their Noe Valley store
Working on a short 88m film directed and shot by youth in collaboration with local filmmaker Nate Zack (more details to follow on this project!)
Collaging pages and writing down reflections for our annual Yearbook Zine project
We ended our school year with a special celebration at Skate Club to honor the incredible staff and volunteers who show up each day to support our programming in-person and behind the scenes.
Did you know? Our team is made up of 37 dedicated staff members and volunteers who work together to support our youth and programs throughout the year.
The importance of our program staff cannot be overstated. We are incredibly fortunate to have a talented, compassionate, and heart-centered team that mentors and guides youth in our space nearly seven days a week.
Our work is also powered by more than two dozen dedicated volunteers who generously share their time and expertise. From IT support and strategic guidance to event planning, youth mentorship, and countless behind-the-scenes tasks, their contributions help make everything we do possible. We are deeply grateful for every person who invests their resources and talents in our mission.
To celebrate these amazing individuals, we knew we needed a proper meal. Our friends at Taco Primo came through with the perfect solution, showing up with an incredible catered spread. We enjoyed fresh tacos, house-made salsas, guacamole, and chips right at home at Skate Club. It was the perfect way to wrap up the school year together.
By the way... Taco Primo is generously offering the Skate Club community 15% off online orders through August 16 with the code SFSKATECLUB. If you haven't tried them yet, we highly recommend it. We especially loved the fresh guacamole and the delicious selection of both meat and vegan jackfruit tacos. We're so grateful for their partnership and support!
As an extra surprise, they even created custom SFSC stickers featuring their skating turtle mascot! We have a stack waiting for you at the shop if you'd like to stop by and grab one. ❤️
